Job Description: Main duties and responsibilities

De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally minded institution with a strong focus on high-quality teaching, learning, and a sector-leading student experience. As a culturally rich university committed to the public good, DMU fosters a stimulating, inclusive environment where staff and students can thrive. The university is proud to be a vibrant, multicultural hub of learning, creativity and innovation.

Faculty / Directorate

You will join a dedicated Learning and Organisational Development team passionate about empowering colleagues and managers to grow and succeed. We work collaboratively to design and deliver a wide range of innovative learning solutions and development initiatives. As part of People Services, we partner closely with subject matter experts to ensure colleagues receive a seamless, high-quality, people-centred experience.

Role

You will design, deliver, and support high-quality learning and development activities for colleagues across DMU. This includes identifying learning needs and using insights to create effective workshops, resources and blended or self-directed learning opportunities.

You will contribute to essential training by working with subject matter experts to keep content accurate, monitoring staff completion and recommending improvements. You will also support colleagues undertaking apprenticeship programmes, offering guidance to help them progress effectively.

Evaluating the impact of learning and contributing to clear, useful reporting will be an important part of the role. You will also help build a positive learning culture by modelling DMU's values and championing inclusive practice.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a proactive learning and development professional with experience designing and facilitating engaging learning interventions. You will be confident in analysing learning needs, creating practical solutions and supporting colleagues at all levels.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and deliver high-quality learning experiences. You will be organised, analytical and comfortable evaluating impact and monitoring compliance. Experience supporting apprenticeships is useful but not essential. You will bring a positive, inclusive approach and contribute to a supportive, collaborative team committed to delivering excellent learning experiences for DMU colleagues.

The post is advertised on a part time basis at 20 hours per week. If you are interested in the role but would like to discuss potential flexible working patterns before applying for the role, please get in touch using the contact details above.

Hybrid working is available, with a minimum requirement of two days per week (pro rata) on campus. Due to the nature of the Learning and Development Advisor role, there may be occasions when additional on campus presence is required.
