About the Company:
We are working in partnership with a well-established and respected town planning and heritage consultancy based in Buckinghamshire. With a strong national client base across the commercial and residential sectors, this consultancy supports a wide range of property development projects, offering expert planning and heritage advice. Their clients include major brands in hospitality, housing, leisure, healthcare, and the public sector.
The Role:
Our client is now seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Heritage Consultant to join their expanding team. You will provide specialist heritage and archaeological advice to both internal planning teams and external clients across a range of development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert advice on heritage and archaeological issues relating to planning applications.
Prepare Heritage Statements, Archaeological Desk-Based Assessments, and Impact Assessments.
Assess the significance of historic buildings, sites, and landscapes.
Liaise with local authorities, Historic England, and other stakeholders to support project delivery.
Conduct site visits and heritage appraisals.
Advise clients on conservation best practices and planning policy compliance.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation and policy.
Mentor junior staff and delegate appropriate tasks to support team development.
Actively contribute to business development, networking, and marketing initiatives.
Create and share content to promote the company's success and your own professional achievements.
About You:
Degree in Archaeology, Architecture, Planning or related field.
Proven experience in a heritage or planning consultancy role.
Strong knowledge of UK heritage legislation and policy (e.g. Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, NPPF).
Skilled in preparing heritage documentation for planning applications.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
Experience in writing appeal statements and attending hearings is advantageous.
Membership of CIfA or IHBC is desirable.
