Offer description

About Seccl and the role

Seccl is the Octopus-owned embedded investment platform that’s on a mission to help more people to invest – and invest well. We’re B-Corp certified with strong product-market fit and ambitious growth. This role is based in a hybrid environment with two mandatory days in the office, in Edinburgh or Bath.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Operations Analyst to join our high-performing team. You will spot patterns, get to the root cause of issues, and drive meaningful improvements. You will take ownership of the most complex operational issues and work collaboratively across operations, and, when needed, with product and engineering to resolve them swiftly and sustainably. You will be the SME for key processes throughout the trading lifecycle, helping the wider team stay confident in our platform’s performance and compliance. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, tech-led environment with a balance of daily delivery and long‑term improvement work.

On a typical day, you will be…

* Leading the resolution of complex trading operational issues from triage through root-cause analysis and remediation
* Coordinating cross-functional investigations into incidents, identifying improvements to prevent recurrence
* Working closely with product and engineering to embed fixes in our technology where appropriate
* Acting as the team’s go-to expert for high-risk or intricate processes, supporting colleagues with escalations and training
* Working with the wider operations team to develop processes for error correction and monitor profit and loss
* Supporting daily outcomes as needed, including controls testing
* Championing strong operational controls and compliance (CASS, COBS, MIFID) as we scale

This role is for you if

* You have a background in Trading Operations and an understanding of trade flows across funds and exchange-traded instruments
* You're a confident problem-solver who digs into detail to get to the root cause
* You work across multiple items, driving resolution and continuous improvement
* You thrive on autonomy, take ownership of outcomes, and follow through
* You're technically minded with strong Excel skills; knowledge of Looker and MS Power Platform is desirable but not essential
* You enjoy coaching others and lifting the team
* You communicate clearly and confidently, including incident reports and explanations to colleagues

This role isn’t for you if

* You rely on a lot of top-down direction and need guidance for progression
* You’re not comfortable in a fast-paced environment requiring quick actions
* You struggle to follow through on ideas; you value people who do what they say
* You don’t like change or ambiguity during rapid growth

What’s in it for you

We offer a generous mix of benefits, including:

* Salary between £40,000 and £45,000 depending on experience + reviewed annually
* 27 days holiday + bank holidays, some flexible, plus birthday day off and annual further dependants leave
* Two volunteering days per year
* Length of service award – one month paid sabbatical at eight years
* 6% employer pension contribution and life assurance
* Private medical insurance with AXA Health
* Enhanced parental leave
* MacBook and up to £500 home office setup budget
* £750 learning budget per person
* Option to work abroad for up to six weeks a year
* Health and wellbeing initiatives including free therapy, mental health support, and wellbeing resources
* Strong financial wellbeing focus with access to Octopus Money, share incentive plans, will writing, and Seccl invest
* Perkbox flexi-points with discounts and freebies
* Cycle to Work and Octopus Electric Vehicle Leasing programs

Our culture

We put people first and foster a transparent, inclusive environment that values diversity of thought, challenge, and experimentation. Check our Glassdoor and LinkedIn for updates and insights from the team.

Interviewing is a two-way process. Our interviews are conversational, and you’ll have time to ask questions. The typical process looks like:

* First stage – 45-minute competency-based interview with the hiring manager and Trading Ops Senior Analyst
* Second stage – 30–45 minute interview focused on culture and operating principles

We will close this role when we have enough applications for the next stage. Please apply as soon as possible; you should expect to hear back within one to two weeks of applying.

We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce. All applicants are considered without regard to age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status, national origin, veteran status, neurodiversity or disability. If you think you’d be a good fit, we’d love to hear from you.
