Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide maternity cover within our highly skilled and well‑established Skin Cancer CNS team. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dynamic service while contributing directly to high‑quality patient care.
In this role you will provide clinical expertise and managerial leadership to three Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists. The CNS team works autonomously across a range of nurse‑led clinics, delivering specialist assessment, treatment support and patient education throughout the pathway. We operate a specialist, leading mole‑mapping service within Imperial, utilising the most up‑to‑date imaging technology to support early recognition and detection of skin cancers.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership, service management, and line management for the CNS team/service.
* Deliver expert clinical care at an enhanced level and mentor Band 6 and Band 7 CNS colleagues.
* Act as a registered nurse with advanced post‑registration education, working at an enhanced level within a defined area of practice.
* Assess, manage, and deliver personalised care; advise and support patients throughout their pathway.
* Exercise autonomy and accountability, acting as a skilled advisor for patients and a resource for the wider team.
* Perform specialist holistic assessments and treatments, making decisions based on deep knowledge and understanding of your area of practice.
* Collaborate as part of the multidisciplinary team, working across multiple settings depending on your expertise and scope of practice.
Qualifications & Experience
* Substantial experience in skin cancer and excellent understanding of systemic anti‑cancer treatments.
