Our client A & G Metal Treatments Ltd are one of the leading Surface Treatments suppliers for the global Aerospace and Defence Industries, through Innovation & Technology. Since our inception in 2018, they have become a key supplier in the Aerospace & Defence sectors, working with some of the world’s biggest Primes. They are seeking a new member of staff to act as a ‘Laboratory Assistant’ working to support the production processes within our ‘Metal Treatments’ facility.
Duties:
The successful candidate shall report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for:
* Sampling and analyzing the production process solutions, at the prescribed frequency, to maintain compliance with customer specifications, using standard analytical techniques / test methods.
* To produce test specimens, using the production solutions, at the required frequency, for submission to external agencies for testing. (This includes maintaining traceability at all times, arranging for dispatch of specimens as necessary and evaluation of reports on completion)
* To recognize, remedy or report variations on process parameters. Investigate causes of variation and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
* Maintaining the laboratory area to ensure compliance with Health & Safety rules and regulations and ‘Good Housekeeping’, ensuring compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
* Be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment including liaison with relevant external agencies to ensure compliance with required standards.
* Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company.
Personal Skills & Attributes:
The successful candidate shall be knowledgeable in chemistry or chemistry related subject (e.g. qualified at ‘A’ Level / ONC / HNC or better) and have some level of mathematical skills.
A working or practical knowledge of Microsoft ‘Excel’ and ‘Word’ is preferred.
Experience is not necessary, but the position is also open for those with relevant experience in this kind of role, (e.g. minimum of 3 years) may also be considered.
The candidate should be keen, confident, reliable under pressure and possess good communication skills, (both written and spoken English)
Good organizational skills, ability to remain flexible, with an eye for detail and willing to work to tight deadlines is essential.
