Speciality Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry - Daventry

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to work within our Older Adults service, based at Danetre Hospital, Daventry.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder may with time be expected to participate on the SAS on‑call rota of which the commitment in the county is currently 1:9 2% remuneration, 1.5 PAs for predictable work – providing cover for Adult, Old Age and Learning Disability Services.
Consultants provide support to SAS Doctors who work mainly in the community and Trainee Doctors whose duties cover mainly inpatient work. The post holder is expected to have Section 12(2) Approval or be eligible and working towards this.
Knowledge and Experience
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Full GMC registration (or eligible)
- Minimum of 4 years SHO or higher grade in psychiatry
- Previous old age psychiatric experience
- Eligibility or approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
- Additional postgraduate qualifications
- Publications or experience in writing psychiatric legal reports
- Management training

- To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole
- Understanding of the political and financial framework within which the services operate
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Post holder will need to take initiative and work in a self‑directed manner
- Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
- Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
- Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation
