Job Title: Plumbing Trainer Location: HMP Littlehey Salary: From £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Role Overview: We are recruiting a dedicated and experienced Plumbing Trainer to join the education team at HMP Littlehey. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by delivering high-quality, accredited vocational training to learners in a secure environment. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Plumbing lessons that support the development of technical skills, employability and confidence. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective learning and progression pathways are in place, helping to reduce reoffending through education. Key Responsibilities: * Deliver high-quality, engaging plumbing training sessions to learners in custody. * Develop and maintain individual learning plans in line with learner goals and course outcomes. * Plan and prepare effective schemes of work, lesson content and resources. * Embed English, Maths, employability and soft skills within vocational learning. * Carry out regular learner assessments and reviews to track progress and achievement. * Support learners in overcoming barriers to education and employment. * Contribute to curriculum planning and innovation within the wider education team. * Maintain accurate records in line with prison protocols and awarding body standards. * Adhere to prison security, health & safety, safeguarding and equality policies at all times. * Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support learner progression. Essential / Desirable Criteria: Essential: * Recognised Level 2 qualification in Maths and English * Plumbing industry experience and subject knowledge * Experience delivering training or supporting learners * Good IT, planning and classroom management skills * Ability to engage and motivate learners with varied needs * Strong commitment to equality, safeguarding and learner wellbeing * Ability to work fully on-site within a secure environment * Willingness to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification (if not already held) Desirable: * Full Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS) * Level 3 plumbing qualification or equivalent trade certification * Experience working within offender learning, secure estates or alternative education * Understanding of Ofsted EIF and quality assurance requirements * Knowledge of roll-on, roll-off curriculum models Benefits: * 30 days annual leave Bank Holidays * Pension Scheme – 5% employee contribution / 3% employer contribution * Fully funded teaching qualification if required * Ongoing CPD and internal progression opportunities * Supportive, learner-centred working environment
