Here at SPTS we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor market. Responsible for the growth of our world leading wafer handling and process systems, the Platform Engineering Group are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team based in Newport, Wales.
Purpose of the role
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding engineering team. Reporting to our Platform Hardware Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will work supporting key customer accounts.
This will involve initially working within R&D teams to gain experience of SPTS products, before moving to a ‘core’ engineering team providing engineering support to key customers. This would be a demanding role involving direct contact with worldwide customers and suppliers.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Producing high quality documentation packs, often to complex customer specific templates
2. Design changes based on customer requirements.
3. Design changes based on changes to regulatory requirements
4. Working with suppliers to manage customer facility requirements
5. Producing Change Orders where required and collaborating with the supply chain.
6. Implementing ‘copy exactly’ procedures.
7. Design changes for obsolescence
8. Producing documentation for field labeling of systems
9. Attending customer and supplier project meetings
10. Supporting other departmental projects

11. Fixed installation machines
12. Special purpose machinery
13. Vacuum systems
14. Ancillary equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers and abatement systems.

Minimum Qualifications
You will ideally be qualified to Degree level or have equivalent experience in the relevant areas required of the post.
• 3D CAD experience with Solid Edge or similar is essential.
• Proven experience working in a development and design environment.
• Design experience for CNC machining would be desirable.
• Experience using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) analysis tools.
• Good understanding of CE/SEMI compliance requirements would be desirable.
