Under the supervision of the Director or designee, the Pharmacy Associate I will be a team member within Clinical Pharmacy Services (CPS). CPS manages client-specific programs to provide clinical expertise on medications. Responsibilities include handling calls with members, prescribers, and pharmacists, and assisting with sorting medication prior authorization requests under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
* Review medication information, call members, and record outcomes in a pharmacy database.
* Handle inbound and outbound calls regarding client-specific work.
* Sort medication prior authorization requests into appropriate drug classes within compliance timeframes.
* Provide information to prescribers and pharmacists about member prescriptions.
* Participate in orientation and training for new Pharmacy Associate I staff.
* Follow UMass Chan and CPS policies and procedures.
* Assist with data entry, medication monitoring, and insurance eligibility for reports and client work.
* Help CPS pharmacist with client appeals information.
* Participate in staff meetings, quality initiatives, and in-service programs.
* Perform other duties as required for client initiatives.
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Required Experience: Some pharmacy-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Active MA Pharmacy Technician License or National Certification (CPhT); bilingual in Spanish preferred; strong communication skills; attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; teamwork skills; basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
