Overview
We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our UK Infrastructure Business Unit, working closely with the Project Commercial Team and the construction team to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships and maximising commercial returns and managing risk.
Responsibilities
* Integrate the project's commercial strategy with the ability to provide recommendations to suit the project requirements as it develops.
* Liaise with and commercially influence/challenge other members of the team and the construction process.
* Manage members of the team while providing sufficient guidance to aid the career development of more junior team members.
* Represent the company and take ownership for commercial and contractual tasks, including but not limited to:
o Preparing subcontract tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate subcontractors and finalising subcontract terms and conditions, and financially and commercially managing to final account completion.
o Risk management
o Preparing and managing budgets, forecasts, and sections of the project cost reports
o Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, procedures, and best practices
o Subcontract management under multiple options of NEC3 ECS
o Manage the recording and submission of claims in respect of delay and loss/expense; formulate detailed arguments and make representation to the relevant parties
o Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team
o Commercial support and management of critical detailed design
Experience
* Strong understanding of NEC contracts
* Proven experience in managing and closing out compensation events
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
* Subcontract management, including the ability to avoid/resolve disputes
* Understanding of relevant legislation
* Monthly reporting / CVR appreciation
* Manage both people and situations sensitively and to commercial advantages
* Commercially inventive and astute
Qualifications
* Quantity Survey BSc or similar
* Professional membership or working towards
