Sessional Chaplain - Orthodox G4S Care and Rehabilitation Services HMP Rye Hill, Rugby, CV23 8SZ Salary £20.09 per hour Zero Hour Contract Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 664 sentenced male adults. We now have an opportunity for a Sessional Orthodox Chaplain to join our team at HMP Rye Hill. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the provision of worship and religious teaching opportunities for all faiths Key Responsibilities Support a comprehensive programme of religious activities in the establishment in line with contractual requirements to meet the spiritual needs of the families. Ensure that all families are provided with worship and teaching opportunities in all faiths, in line with contractual requirements and best practice. Maintain community links with the wider faith community so the support provided within the establishment is current, in line with best practice and caters for all faiths. Counsel families who request marriage whilst in custody and make any necessary arrangements for the wedding. Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role. Essential Skills Appropriate qualification Substantial experience of organising and leading religious services. Strong interpersonal skills. Empathetic. Good communication skills. Approachable Orthodox Chaplain - Ordained Priest or Bishop Be an ordained Priest or Bishop of the Orthodox Church in Communion with the See of Constantinople, and/or Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria. Will normally need to have been in Holy Orders for a minimum of three years. Have formal endorsement in the form of the certificate of Ordination of a Bishop, Metropolitan or Patriarch. *(Evidence required before appointment or approval from HMPPS Faith Advisor subject to agreement from Orthodox Advisor to HMPPS/Orthodox Bishop’s Pastoral Committee).
