We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our waste team as an Electrical Technician at Rye Meads Sewage Treatments Works.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair electrical and some mechanical equipment. You will also work in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns. PPE and tools will be provided, and a van will be supplied for hours of duty once the necessary training period has been completed.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs in a timely and efficient manner to avoid process interruptions.
* This may involve diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, controls, electronic control systems like VSD, automatic valves, flow, level, and pressure measurement, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
* Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
Base Location: Rye Meads Sewage Works - SG12 8JY.
Working Pattern: 38 hours per week, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earnings by up to £8,000-£10,000 annually after training.
What you should bring to the role
* NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering is essential.
* 18th Edition qualification is desirable; training can be provided.
* Knowledge of health and safety policies.
* Significant experience in electrical systems, ideally in an industrial environment.
* A valid driving license.
