We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at a school in Aylesbury. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with SEMH needs, providing both academic and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support students with SEMH needs in both group and one-to-one settings
* Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment
* Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver tailored interventions
* Monitor and track students’ progress, offering feedback to the teaching team
* Support the development of social and emotional skills through targeted activities
* Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a positive, constructive manner
Ideal Candidate:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient personality
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to stay calm and focused under pressure
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
* Willingness to work as part of a collaborative team
