Description Plumpton College is seeking a motivated, hands-on and enthusiastic Viticulture Apprentice to join our Vineyard team and develop the practical skills needed for a successful career in the fast-growing UK wine industry. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, gain a nationally recognised qualification, and contribute to the year-round maintenance and development of our commercial vineyards. About the Role As a Level 3 Viticulture Apprentice, you will play an active role in supporting the Vineyard Manager and wider team across Rock Lodge Vineyard and associated Plumpton College sites. You will develop core vineyard skills while contributing to the smooth running of our operations. You will: Assist with vine husbandry tasks including pruning, tying down, canopy management, irrigation, nutrition and harvesting. Support pest and disease monitoring, plant health assessments and sustainable vineyard practices. Operate and maintain vineyard machinery and equipment (full training provided). Contribute to wider estate maintenance such as mowing, strimming, trellis repairs and general infrastructure tasks. Participate in seasonal vineyard activities including winter pruning and grape harvest. Maintain accurate records in line with industry and apprenticeship requirements. Work collaboratively with colleagues and support students undertaking work experience. Represent the College at recruitment, marketing and promotional events. Follow all health, safety, safeguarding and equality policies. Alongside your practical duties, you will attend classes and complete all required tasks to successfully achieve the Level 3 Viticulture Apprenticeship within the 18-month training period. In addition, you will achieve Level 3 award in emergency first aid at work, Level 2 in Maths and English (if applicable), PA1 Safe use of pesticides (pre requisite of PA3) and PA3 Air assisted sprayer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, wants to develop specialist skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
