ExperiMENTAL Science is seeking a professional and enthusiastic freelance science communicator to deliver engaging and educational after school science clubs in primary schools across South Wales.
We believe that every child should have the chance to experience the wonder of science through fun, hands-on experiments. Our mission is to make science accessible, exciting, and inspiring for young people, while building their curiosity, confidence, and creativity.
Role details
* Clubs run Monday to Thursday, for 5 weeks per half term
* Each session lasts 1 hour
* Fee: £50 per session (includes mileage within 20 miles of CF37)
* Additional mileage beyond 20 miles will be paid at 50p per mile
* All session plans and materials are prepared and provided
* Full training is provided for every session and workshop
* This is a freelance/self-employed position – the successful candidate will be responsible for their own tax and record keeping
* Immediate training provided for an immediate start
Essential requirements
* Demonstrable experience of working with groups of children in an educational or youth setting
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to engage and inspire children through interactive learning
* Commitment to following school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and child protection requirements
* Enhanced DBS check (required)
* Ability to drive and access to own car
* Willingness to collect, transport, clean, and return equipment to ensure it remains in good working order
* Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently in a professional manner
Desirable
* A qualification in science or a related field
* Previous experience delivering extracurricular clubs or workshops
