Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role include being the first point of contact for our patients, on the telephone, face to face, or via our online consultation tool/online services. Liaising with GPs and other healthcare professionals. You will ensure that patients are signposted appropriately in a professional and empathetic manner, using various online systems. You may also carry out many different administration duties including processing prescriptions and other paperwork which requires good attention to detail.

We are a 7 GP Partner teaching practice with a large and varied Clinical team, situated in a purpose-built premises in Darwen providing care to approximately 14,500 patients.

Job responsibilities
The following is a brief indication of some of the elements ofthis varied and complex role:-
Providing a first point of contact whether by telephone or faceto face, or via our online consultation tool/online services to assist patientsand ensure appropriate signposting to the most relevant services (includinginternal and external organisations).
Re-arranging of appointments and clinics when required
Greeting patients and visitors at the front desk forappointments and queries etc
Issuing prescriptions in line with Practice Protocols
Handing out documents to patients in line with PracticeProtocols
Giving out results and other clinical information to patients inline with Practice Protocols
Receiving of patient samples in line with practice Protocols
Investigating and responding to tasks and workflows directed toyou by Clinicians, the management team or other relevant members of staff
Emptying internal post trays and taking appropriate action withthe content
Attendance at staff and team meetings (as far as reasonablypossible) and reading of regular Team Briefs
To follow all Practice Policies
To complete all mandatory training (e-learning)
Any other reasonable task as directed by your line manager orclinician
In terms of the working week: Monday to Friday 4:00-8:00 pm 20 Hours per week
Person Specification
Qualifications
* The successful applicant will need to have the following qualities
* GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above).
* Empathy and compassion.
* Resilience.
* Adaptable.
* Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast paced environment.
* Flexible.
* Hard working team player.
* Proactive.
* A knowledge of medical terminology or previous experience in a health care setting is desirable but not essential as in-house training will be given to enable
* IT Experience (knowledge of Emis Web would be beneficial but not essential
