Title: Business Development Manager - telehandler & material handling products
About the Role
XCMG UK is the subsidiary of XCMG Group in the UK & Ireland. We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager – Telehandler & Material Handling Products to join our growing team. This role focuses on developing the telehandler and material handling product line, identifying new business opportunities, expanding market presence, and building long-term partnerships with key customers.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the entire business development cycle – from strategy creation and market penetration to revenue generation and customer success – while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery and support.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Strategy
* Develop and implement business development strategies to drive growth in the telehandler and material handling product segment.
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target industries and customer groups.
* Build and expand a strong client base by engaging with key decision-makers.
* Conduct market analysis, monitor competitor activities, and adapt strategies to ensure a competitive advantage.
* Support product development and improvement initiatives to meet local customer needs and market requirements.
* Assist with certification, compliance, and licensing to enable smooth entry and operation in the UK and Ireland markets.
Customer Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to ensure loyalty and repeat business.
* Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, delivering tailored solutions and value-added services.
* Conduct site visits, product demonstrations, and customer consultations to promote products effectively.
* Provide technical and commercial support, resolving customer queries in a professional and timely manner.
Sales Administration & Financial Management
* Manage sales budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
* Prepare and present accurate sales reports, pipeline analysis, and performance updates to senior management.
* Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and pricing with customers to maximize revenue and profitability.
* Work with the finance team to monitor outstanding payments and ensure timely collections.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Coordinate with the service, parts, and aftermarket teams to guarantee outstanding customer support.
* Collaborate with marketing to design and implement campaigns, promotional strategies, and brand awareness initiatives.
* Work with logistics and supply chain to ensure on-time product delivery and efficient order fulfilment.
* Provide feedback from customers and the market to internal teams to support product development and operational improvements.
* Address customer concerns related to product performance, service, and warranty issues.
* Other tasks as assigned by line managers.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in business development or sales within material handling, telehandlers, construction equipment, or related industries.
* Strong commercial acumen and a track record of delivering sales growth and achieving revenue targets.
* Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into actionable strategies.
* Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while collaborating within a team.
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Full UK driving licence (or equivalent for the region).
