Responsibilities Offer clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based care for adults experiencing a range of mental health conditions. Perform psychiatric assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and risk assessments, creating comprehensive and personalised management plans for service users. Prescribe and oversee treatment plans, including psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions. Collaborate in developing and implementing user-centred care pathways, ensuring service users and families are involved in all aspects of decision-making. Actively promote mental health awareness and work to reduce stigma through education and community engagement. Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, trainees, and team members, fostering continuous learning and collaborative teamwork. Ensure adherence to relevant legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including Mental Health Act frameworks. Contribute to service development initiatives, clinical governance activities, and quality improvement projects. Participate in the on-call rota and provide expert crisis intervention when required. Qualifications Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent). Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Psychiatry (General Adult) or eligibility within six months of CCT at the time of appointment. Proven experience in managing a broad range of adult mental health conditions in various clinical settings. Strong commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion in clinical practice, as well as team collaboration. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with service users, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues. Demonstrated clinical leadership, decision-making, and team-building abilities. Working knowledge of UK mental health legislation, safeguarding principles, and ethical frameworks. Evidence of continual professional development and participation in research or clinical audits is desirable. Day-to-day Conduct initial and follow-up consultations to diagnose and provide evidence-based interventions for mental health conditions. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to deliver integrated care plans. Attend and contribute to case discussions, team meetings, and handovers to maintain continuity of care. Represent the service in liaising with external partners such as GPs, community organisations, and other healthcare providers. Provide supervision and lead training sessions for junior doctors and other team members. Engage in reflective practice, professional development activities, and peer reviews to enhance clinical expertise. Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and consultations with families. Respond to urgent referrals and provide expert guidance during crisis scenarios.
