About the Role
We're supporting the hire of a Production Operator on behalf of a growing advanced manufacturer producing high-precision composite components for medical, automotive, defence and aerospace sectors. This is a hands-on, varied role working across different stages of a modern manufacturing process, from preparing mould tooling and operating robotic spray systems, through to curing, material testing and quality checks.
Yes, the process involves some technical-sounding steps, but don't let that put you off. If you're comfortable in a production or manufacturing environment and you're the type of person who picks things up quickly and takes pride in doing a job well, you're exactly who we're looking for.
Full training will be provided across all processes, equipment and quality systems. You don't need to have done this before, you just need the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
What You'll Be Getting Involved In
You'll rotate across different areas of the production process, so no two days are quite the same. Over time, you'll build up skills across:
Composite Manufacturing
Preparing mould tooling ready for production runs
Loading moulds onto spindle equipment for automated processing
Operating and monitoring pre-programmed robotic spray systems
Managing fibre feed during spray operations
Removing finished parts from moulds and completing tool cleaning
Loading and unloading curing ovens and monitoring oven cycles
Installing inserts into components to engineering specifications
Quality & Testing
Carrying out first-stage inspections using pre-programmed CMM equipment (the system guides you through it)
Preparing composite test samples for in-house analysis
Supporting material tests, you'll be trained on all of these, including TMA, TG, and VF testing
Identifying and flagging any quality or process concerns to the team
Documentation & Traceability
Recording manufacturing data and batch information accurately within the production system
Keeping records up to date to support full product traceability
Finishing, Packing & Materials
Kitting, packaging and preparing finished components for downstream processes or dispatch
Supporting internal material movement and production flow
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
Following all site health and safety procedures, safety is the number one priority
Carrying out manual handling tasks correctly
Maintaining a clean, organised work area in line with 5S standards
What We're Looking For
We're not looking for a composites specialist, we're looking for someone with the right mindset. Here's what will set you apart:
The Essentials
* Experience in a production, manufacturing or similar hands-on environment
* Someone who follows processes carefully and pays attention to the detail
* Comfortable around industrial equipment, you don't need to know it all, just be willing to learn it
* Good at keeping records and takes accuracy seriously
* Flexible and available for rotating shift patterns (earlies and lates)
* Physically capable of manual handling tasks
Bonus Points If You Have
* Previous experience in composites or similar advanced manufacturing
* Familiarity with curing processes, resin systems or technical materials
* Experience with rigging and slinging operations
What Kind of Person Thrives Here?
Someone safety-conscious who does things properly, not just quickly
Methodical, you like following a process and getting it right first time
A genuine team player who mucks in and supports those around them
Adaptable, happy to move between tasks and learn new things
Reliable and consistent, someone the team can count on
If this sounds like the kind of role you'd thrive in, we'd love to hear from you, even if your CV doesn't tick every box. Get in touch and let's have a conversation
