The Role
As a Senior Software Developer, you will design, build, and maintain high‑quality digital software products within an Agile delivery environment. You will ensure the operational stability, robustness, and resilience of the services you develop, while contributing to solution design and engineering standards. This is a full‑stack role. You will work across backend services, databases, and front‑end interfaces, translating designs into secure and performant implementations. You will also work with modern cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), containerised environments, APIs, and microservice architectures, supporting delivery through automated testing and CI/CD practices.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain digital software products and contribute to technical solution design.
* Build backend services using Java (8+), Node.js, and Spring Boot.
* Develop and maintain front‑end components and user interfaces, ensuring performance and security.
* Work with cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
* Develop solutions using APIs, RESTful services, and microservice architectures.
* Use containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
* Build and maintain automated test suites to support continuous integration.
* Adhere to code quality and engineering standards, including unit test expectations.
* Participate in Agile ceremonies, break down requirements, estimate effort, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
* Deliver accessible digital experiences and meet WCAG 2.2 AAA expectations where applicable.
Your Profile
* Full‑stack development experience across backend, databases, and front‑end user interfaces.
* Recent hands‑on experience with Java (8+), Node.js, and Spring Boot.
* Experience developing in cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure).
* Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle).
* Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
* Ability to build automated test suites and support CI/CD pipelines.
* Strong understanding of APIs, RESTful services, and microservice architectures.
* Awareness of accessibility expectations, including WCAG 2.2 AAA.
* Strong Agile delivery experience and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience with event‑driven architectures (e.g., Kafka).
* Exposure to ETL processes or integration with external systems.
* Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube.
* Exposure to cloud‑native services (e.g., serverless), integration workflows (ETL/RPA), or automation tools.
* Awareness of AI/ML‑enabled development, including LLMs, context/guardrails-style validation, and model deployment considerations.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in hybrid environments.
