Founded in 1999 SkillGate is one on the UKs leading eLearning business. We are based in a beautiful, converted barn near Midhurst, 10 miles from Chichester, West Sussex. We offer one of the industry's most advanced Learning and Performance Management Systems and a wide range of online training courses - covering regulatory and self-development training.
We are looking for an ambitious individual, with the essential experience described below, on a full-time or part-time basis, who wants to increase their experience and responsibility and join our management team. In addition to the account management team and production team, we have 3 full time programmers, a server manager and two designers.
We use Windows and Linux servers hosted by a third-party hosting company. Application software is Adobe Coldfusion (knowledge of this is NOT essential). We are ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus accredited.
Responsibilities:
The core responsibility will be for creation of specifications and delivery of code that meets the needs requested by the account management team. In this regard, typical activities will include:
* managing and supporting other coders as needed
* participating in planning and designing appropriate code to meet the evolving needs of our clients
* developing the SkillGate application with web-based coding as needed
* ensuring documentation and testing is handled professionally
* supporting the server manager to manage system backups and test emergency data recovery methods
* monitor system performance and implement adjustments when needed.
Suggested Skills:
* Excellent knowledge of databases and web-based coding
* Proper understanding of the importance of security and resilience
* Ability to manage and support others
* Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and account management teams
* Ability to research and design solutions and implement technology improvements.
Requirements:
* Minimum 6 years post graduate experience
* Experience with code such as PHP, Javascript, MYSQL, JSON, or equivalent
* Excellent attention to detail
* Good communication skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
* Self-sufficient in managing detailed project
* Ability to commute to our office at least 3 days per week
