Fernite is a long-established Machine Knife manufacturing company with a worldwide customer base. We operate in multiple niche markets, working to exacting standards of quality and performance using a mix of traditional skills and state of the art CNC equipment.
Due to the continuous growth of the business, we have an opportunity to join Fernite of Sheffield's Ltd Operations Team.
The Role
The Senior Team Leader role is vital to our business, it is essential that we have hard working committed people working within our team and leading by example.
Working directly for the Operations manager, the Senior Team Leader is pivotal in day to day running of the factory and supporting the functions that make the factory work. By managing the team leaders, their cells work flow, priority of works and machines to allow the team members to be successful
The role is a skilled / supervisory position and would ideally suit a candidate with experience in a Team Leader / Line Leader / Supervisory role in a manufacturing, machining or production environment. There is a mix of high volume runners, and low volume repeaters, with occasional special products.
Key Tasks
· Run the ERP system to manage daily production schedule by cell to meet delivery promises to customers.
· Manage work flow through supporting departments to line up work and keep the machines running.
· Monitor production rates of machine operators to ensure production requirements are met while maintaining quality standards.
· Run Kaizen and Continuous Improvement projects.
· Promote a safe working environment by effectively ensuring safety procedures are adhered to, encourage near miss reporting, investigate any accidents and put measures in-place to prevent reoccurrence.
Additional Tasks
· Communicate with the sales team, updating changing priorities and managing customer urges.
· Daily team meetings, to measure departmental Safety, Quality Cost, Delivery and People.
· Manage consumables and stock alongside suppliers to ensure no shortages
· Manage Sub-Contractors for price and leadtime
· Develop the production team with 1:1 appraisals managing training needs and provide coaching where appropriate
· Disciplinary and conflict management, recruitment, and HR
· Maintain compliance with ISO quality standards
· Perform quality control audits, and overcheck production paperwork and inspection.
· Report and investigate non-conformances from production, with causes, resolutions, preventative actions and follow ups.
Knowledge & Experience:
Applicants should preferably have the following skills and experience.
· Computer literate (good level required in Excel and Word)
· Understanding of a manufacturing/machining
· Good knowledge of ERP systems
· Ability to communicate confidently with both internal and external contacts
· Knowledge of product and process flow
· Ability to interpret and evaluate data to meet customer requirements
· Self-motivated, disciplined and assertive

Pay:
£35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
