About the role:
We are looking to recruit an experienced Enforcement Officer or Graduate Environmental Health Officer to provide additional resource to deal with seasonal and additional demand in the service. The postholder will be used as a floating resource to provide support to the different teams in General Environmental Health including Noise and Statutory Nuisance, Housing Enforcement and Health and Safety Regulation. As this post is temporary, it would suit a newly qualified Environmental Health Officer or a BSc/MSc level graduate in Environmental Health looking to gain experience in their first Local Authority enforcement role. Alternatively, it would suit anyone with an Enforcement background, who is looking for temporary work or as a career development opportunity.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for case management of complaints about service, where members of the public and stakeholders have made an official complaint about the service provision they have received in Environmental Health. The General Environmental Health Manager is responsible for reviewing all Stage 1 complaints in line with the Council’s Corporate Complaints Policy, and this post will be required to undertake information gathering and task based investigations to determine the facts surrounding allegations made.
The post holder will be required to working in collaboration with partner enforcement agencies such as Planning Enforcement, Anti-Social Behaviour, Waste Enforcement, South Wales Police, Fire and Rescue and Arson Reduction.
About you:
Ideally you will have;
- a minimum of 4 GCSE passes or equivalent, AND
- hold a relevant qualification at HNC, Diploma or a higher accredited BSc/MSc degree in Environmental Health or a related subject.
