Role Purpose:
This is a new product testing role within the company, with responsibilities spanning the full lifecycle of test engineering—from defining test cases to developing test tools, executing tests, and managing facilities. It requires broad engineering knowledge, imagination, and drive.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
1. Analyze conformance specifications to derive test requirements.
2. Plan, design, and communicate test cases validating requirements across electro-mechanical systems for development and production phases.
3. Design test jigs, harnesses, and software to execute test cases, including automation where appropriate.
4. Implement data processing/filtering software to extract relevant results.
5. Manage internal test facilities (test tanks, ovens, pools, lifting equipment).
6. Coordinate with external test facilities (EMC, vibration, pools, etc.).
7. Execute tests safely, clearly, and in a controlled manner.
8. Conduct fault finding and failure analysis.
9. Document and present results and findings.
Qualifications include a HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with minimum 3 years in a test-focused role or test equipment development. Proven experience in data capture and analysis, working on multi-disciplinary systems, and within an engineering NPI environment is required. Knowledge of test equipment, platforms, and software (e.g., National Instruments LabView/TestStand, programming languages like Python, C, C#) is essential. Hands-on experience with electronic circuits, industry standards, and certification processes is also needed. The role demands an innovative mindset, ability to work independently under tight deadlines, and strong communication skills. Experience in offshore/subsea industries and customer-facing roles is advantageous.
Other responsibilities include developing effective solutions, maintaining IT systems, acting ethically, supporting team relationships, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
