Ost No. EDSCH01821 - Teacher of Mathematics and Head of Year An opportunity has arisen for an exceptional candidate to teach within the Maths & Numeracy AOLE with additional middle leadership responsibility as a Head of Year. Suitable candidates will be passionate about and experienced in the teaching of Mathematics, with a proven ability to deliver a dynamic, creative and purposeful learning environment for all pupils to make effective progress. They will also have an ability to lead the care, support and guidance of a year group, as a Head of Year. The school is looking to appoint a Head of Year to work with a Year 9 cohort. The school operated a system that will see the Head of Year support the cohort through to Year 11, monitoring progress academically and pastorally with a strong emphasis on attendance and wellbeing before moving to Year 7 to take that year group through to Year 11. The school is also looking to appoint a Head of 6th Form to lead the 6th form provision as part of the new Newport East partnership, working with three partner schools to deliver a diverse and successful curriculum. The allocation of Head of Year role will be discussed on appointment. Each post will be paid at TLR 2a (£3,590) and will be a full-time middle leadership post within the school. 6th Form Provision at Llanwern High School The school has, until recently, worked with a partner school to deliver a range of A level and vocational L3 qualifications. Alongside this, the school delivers a Newport County in the Community provision, attracting pupils from schools across the local and wider area to study L3 qualifications and work with Newport County coaches to complete in a national league and develop coaching and leading experiences and qualifications. Recruitment, retention and results are all increasing steadily, with a desire for each aspect to continue to improve. In September, the school is expanding its partnership arrangements by extending the collaboration to 4 schools. This exciting opportunity will require working closely with three other local schools to develop, monitor and support pupil progress ensuring the highest quality learning experiences.
