This is an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s busy Planning Enforcement team. The role will involve dealing with a wide variety of enquiries relating to breaches of planning control. This post will suit someone with an interest in the built environment who has a positive and flexible approach to work. You will need excellent verbal and written communication as well as ICT skills to progress planning enforcement cases to resolutions that benefit neighbours and local communities whilst protecting the quality of the environment and supporting the regeneration of the city.
The post holder will be expected, with support, to carry out a wide range of enforcement duties, including investigating and resolving breaches of planning control, carrying out site visits, preparing letters and reports, and drafting notices.
You will be required to develop or build upon your understanding of planning laws; negotiate solutions and have the time management skills necessary to cope with a varied and demanding workload with a range of deadlines and targets; be customer orientated, and ensure developers, businesses and residents are treated fairly, in accordance with national and local planning policies, and the Sheffield Local Enforcement Plan.
An RTPI accredited qualification in Planning or Planning Enforcement would be an advantage, as would knowledge of planning, however this is not essential.
