The Boston office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Serve as the engineering leader throughout all project stages and contribute to studio marketing and discipline management.
2. Assess existing facilities and develop upgrade and expansion strategies.
3. Lead analysis, design, and documentation of HVAC systems and controls.
4. Establish project goals, budgets, and schedules; monitor performance and ensure quality control.
5. Engage with clients, project teams, code officials, and contractors to resolve mechanical issues and foster relationships.
6. Present design solutions to clients and review committees.
7. Specialize in mechanical systems, conduct research on complex issues, and develop solutions.
8. Contribute to sustainable design initiatives using software for energy modeling and fluid dynamics calculations.
9. Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching and recruitment processes.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
* At least 10 years of experience in HVAC design, sustainable design, automatic control systems, and energy modeling.
* Ability to apply critical thinking in early project planning stages.
* LEED AP preferred; PE registration is required.
* Leadership and mentorship desire.
* Knowledge of the design and construction process and interdisciplinary communication skills.
* Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
