Overview
Looking for a hands-on role with a leading company in intelligent transport solutions? SRL is at the forefront of traffic management innovation, providing temporary traffic systems like portable signals, message boards, and CCTV. About the Role
The primary role of an Operative is to support the depot daily operations and, on a rota basis, out-of-hours on-call duties involving the delivery and setup of portable traffic lights and collections. Responsibilities include battery exchanges on-site, inspections, and repairs of our TFL hire fleet and trailer hire fleet at depots and customer sites. Objectives and targets are set by the Regional Manager.
PPE, a mobile phone, company van, and fuel card will be provided. Hours of work are 42.5 weekly. Overtime is available as needed, including on-call rota duties. Shift pattern: 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Overtime, call-out rates, and fixed-price rates are claimable and can be discussed during the interview process.
Key Accountabilities
* Ensure all work at depots and customer sites prioritizes safety, maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
* Minimize environmental impact and prevent pollution incidents.
* Follow all health and safety procedures, identify hazards, and mitigate risks.
* Promote a “Don’t walk by” culture by reporting near misses to prevent accidents.
* Comply with toolbox talks, risk assessments, method statements, and COSHH assessments.
* Maintain professionalism and courtesy when attending client sites.
* Follow all client site rules.
* Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
* Ensure safe working procedures are always followed.
* Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs of hire fleet.
* Complete relevant inspection paperwork, noting wear and tear or damage.
* Maintain vehicle cleanliness, legal compliance, and daily checks.
* Ensure equipment is fit for purpose or quarantined for repairs.
* Liaise with customers before and after visits.
* Complete all paperwork and obtain signatures and PO’s as required.
* Work safely, wear PPE, and keep the work area tidy.
* Manage spares stock and replenish when needed.
* Represent the company professionally.
* Support training and development initiatives.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
