The role will collaborate with finance colleagues, information teams, and operational staff to ensure data quality, resolve discrepancies, and provide insights that support productivity, efficiency and service improvement.
Main duties
To support the delivery of accurate and timely financial and costing information across the Finance function, contributing to effective financial management, reporting, and statutory returns. The post holder will assist in the analysis of activity and income data, support unit costing processes, and maintain financial records and systems in line with NHS reporting requirements.
In addition, the post holder will contribute to monthly financial processes, reconciliations, and national returns while developing their technical skills through on‑the‑job learning and a desire to participate in an AAT.
Apprenticeship details
If you dont already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, this post offers an opportunity to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to your role.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation, with around 20% of working hours spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Job responsibilities
Responsibilities include:

Qualifications
* GCSEs Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English.
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a related subject.
* NVQ level 3 in a related subject or willingness to undertake Assistant Accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Experience
* Experience working with Microsoft packages, particularly Excel.
* Experience working with large volumes of data.
* Previous NHS finance experience (preferred).
Knowledge
* Good numeracy and IT skills.
* Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial procedures.
* Ability to use financial systems and follow policies.
* Knowledge of NHS finance processes.
* Keenness to undertake continuous professional development.
Skills and abilities
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to understand and interpret financial information.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Basic analytical skills to identify and investigate discrepancies.
Additional requirements
* Ability to travel across Trust sites as required.
