Job overview
An advanced financial analyst will support the production of key monthly reports, projections and analysis for one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, working within the ISM finance team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The role involves a demanding mix of accounting, forecasting and business‑planning duties and will also lead on specific areas of work that may cut across the whole Trust.
Detailed responsibilities
* Produce the monthly set of management accounting information.
* Meet with budget‑holders and generate intelligence to support forecasting and business plans.
* Support Senior Financial Management staff in financial oversight.
* Take the lead in setting up new reports and reviewing existing standards.
* Provide training to budget‑holders and other key staff.
Qualifications
* Educated to at least AAT certificate level, degree level, or equivalent experience.
* Significant progress made towards completing a CCAB qualification.
Skills
* Advanced ECDL qualification, spreadsheet skills to macro level.
* Good working knowledge of all accounting sub‑systems.
* Understanding of accounting accruals, provisions and balance sheet accounts for stock accounting.
* Ability to prepare statements of budget and actual performance from a trial balance.
* Ability to identify, investigate and summarise significant variances and trends.
Experience
* Substantial experience in a financial management role within an accounting department.
* Advanced ECDL qualification and spreadsheet skills to macro level.
* Knowledge of all accounting sub‑systems and relevant accruals, provisions and balance sheet accounts.
* Experience preparing budget and actual performance statements and investigating variances.

* Able to work with minimal supervision and prioritise own work to meet tight deadlines.
