What you’ll do in this Lead Production Engineer job As Lead Production Engineer, you’ll lead a team of engineers and technicians working to improve output, reduce waste, and optimise production processes. You will champion continuous improvement, support investment planning, and take ownership of production documentation and procedures. This is a role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on action. You will work collaboratively across Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Health and Safety, Maintenance, and Supply Chain. Key responsibilities include: Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary production and process engineering team. Identifying and delivering improvement initiatives that reduce cost and lead times. Driving quality enhancements using appropriate continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Supporting automation, robotic and smart manufacturing upgrades. Managing change projects for new technologies, equipment, or processes. Overseeing manufacturing SOPs, documentation, and ISO9001/14001 compliance. Taking part in CAPEX planning and preparing investment business cases. Ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant production environment. What you’ll bring to this Lead Production Engineer job This role is ideal for someone with a solid production or manufacturing background who enjoys leading teams and delivering operational improvements. You’ll combine strong technical knowledge with project management and leadership ability. A keen eye for quality and ensuring products are manufactured to the highest standard is vital. All the while championing manufacturing excellence and value in production. You should have: A degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent NVQ). Experience in leading change, managing teams, and improving manufacturing operations. Good understanding of lean principles, quality systems, and compliance requirements. Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems and production planning software. Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt desirable).
