Nursery Manager – £42,500-£50000

Location: Andover

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About Us

Blooming Kids is an established childcare provider with a strong reputation for providing high-quality care and education for children and families.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and inspiring Nursery Manager to lead Harris Hall Preschool, our newly registered and beautifully resourced preschool setting.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a well-supported setting with an established team, clear staffing structure and excellent resources. We are looking for a leader who can build on strong foundations, support staff development, maintain high standards and continue to develop the setting as it grows.

The Role

The Nursery Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of Harris Hall Preschool, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, safeguarding and compliance.

The successful candidate will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and will be responsible for leading, supporting and developing the team while building positive relationships with children, families and external professionals.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development

  • Lead and inspire the nursery team.
  • Promote a positive, professional and supportive culture.
  • Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals and support meetings.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Support room leaders and practitioners to achieve high standards.
  • Hold staff accountable whilst providing encouragement and support.

Safeguarding

  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are implemented effectively.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records.
  • Support staff in understanding and fulfilling their safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Liaise with external agencies where required.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the EYFS and nursery policies.
  • Monitor standards throughout the setting.
  • Ensure children's records and staff documentation are maintained accurately.
  • Oversee observations, assessments, reports and transitions.
  • Support continuous improvement and quality development.

Parent Partnerships

  • Build positive and professional relationships with families.
  • Manage parent concerns and queries effectively.
  • Promote excellent communication between home and nursery.
  • Support children and families through transitions.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the setting.
  • Ensure staffing ratios are maintained.
  • Support recruitment, induction and onboarding of new staff.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for children.
  • Work closely with the Director to support the ongoing development of the nursery.

Essential Requirements

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ability to undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • A proactive, professional and solution-focused approach.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Room Leader, Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • SENCO experience or an interest in SEND.
  • Experience leading quality improvement within an early years setting.
