A specialist European reinsurance brokerage — well‑capitalised, independently operated and globally connected — is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Lead to join as a senior technical and commercial member of the team.
This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role within a business that has planned succession activity underway, offering the incoming individual direct scope to assume a lead role within the operation.
The Role
You will own the full facultative reinsurance placing cycle for a portfolio of large, complex construction and engineering programmes.
Underwriting submissions, carrier negotiations, policy wording reviews and claims oversight — the expectation is that you operate as a senior practitioner, not as an overseer of a placing team.
You will manage key client relationships directly, represent the firm at the highest level with carriers and counterparties, and play an active role in developing new business across target sectors including power generation, renewable energy, infrastructure and industrial property.
Alongside the technical and client‑facing responsibilities, you will contribute to the strategic direction of the business as a member of the senior team, with genuine scope to shape its next phase.
The Business
An independent specialist reinsurance brokerage with deep expertise in engineering, construction, power generation and renewable energy lines.
The business transacts single risks and large‑scale portfolio placements with market access across Lloyd's, Europe, Singapore, New York and Bermuda.
It serves a concentrated portfolio of major European industrial and infrastructure clients and operates with a culture of technical excellence and genuine client intimacy.
What You'll Already Have
* A minimum of 10 years in facultative reinsurance, with demonstrable focus on construction, engineering, power generation or closely adjacent specialty lines
* A proven track record of independently placing complex, large‑value risks into the global insurance and reinsurance market
* Technical depth in deal structuring — able to lead underwriting submissions, negotiate policy wordings and manage the full placing cycle without significant support infrastructure
* Established carrier and market relationships across London and international markets, built on technical credibility
* Commercial capability: the ability to develop and grow client relationships at senior level, not solely to service an existing book
* An entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable operating in a lean, senior team environment without the resources of a major broking platform
The Opportunity
The business has an established client base, a strong track record and genuine market standing.
For the right individual, this represents more than a senior broking appointment — it is an opportunity to step into a business with real commercial substance, assume meaningful operational responsibility, and play a central role in defining what the business becomes.
For a senior practitioner looking to move beyond a large platform into a role with genuine autonomy and long‑term upside, this is a well‑timed and substantive opportunity.
