Purchasing Assistant Worksop, full time, c£32k Temporary rolling contract Our Global Worksop based manufacturing client is looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team. Purchasing items using the MRP system, you will maintain accurate supplier information and lead times, and manage supplier relationships to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. Duties of a purchasing assistant include: Order parts and materials using the MRP system, ensuring timely delivery based on production plan required dates. Review and update supplier lead times and contact information in the MRP system to ensure accuracy for order placement. Research and source new or obsolete items, obtaining quotes, negotiating best prices, lead times, and identifying suitable alternatives to meet customer promise dates. Negotiate and secure favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers. Monitor market trends, sales data, and customer behaviour to anticipate and predict future requirements. Manage stock levels and stock turns, process orders, and track purchases to ensure optimal inventory. Collaborate with production, planning, and quality teams to resolve supply issues. To be considered for the purchasing assistant role candidates must have: Previous experience in purchasing, supply chain, or materials management. Strong negotiation and communication skills and some analytical exposure and intermediate IT skills is ideal. Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems would be helpful but is not essential for the role.
