We’re seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN complex needs school in the St Austell area.
About the Role
This is a full-time, term-time only position in a specialist school catering to pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including ASD, communication difficulties, and sensory and physical impairments.
The role begins on a temporary basis, with a clear pathway to permanent employment for the right candidates. This structure offers you the opportunity to fully integrate into the school community, gain valuable experience, and ensure the role is the perfect fit for both you and the school.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting pupils with complex special educational needs in a 1:1 or small group setting
Assisting with personal care, communication aids, and physical or sensory needs where required
Collaborating closely with class teachers and SEN professionals to implement individual learning plans
Helping create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment tailored to each child’s needs
Promoting emotional well-being, social development, and independence
Managing and responding calmly to challenging behaviours with appropriate strategies
What We’re Looking For
Essential: Experience working in a school setting, preferably within SEN
Desirable: Previous experience supporting children with complex or profound needs
A passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with SEN
Resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
A commitment to working full-time, Monday to Friday during term-time only
Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
