Job Description Job Title: Health and Safety Officer Reporting to: Head of Technical We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental service across the entire business. This role is crucial to ensuring our business operations are compliant with health and safety standards, while also supporting our commitment to creating a safe and secure working environment for all employees. Job Purpose: Responsible for providing a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental service to the entire business, ensuring that our business objectives are met. Key Responsibilities: Development and implementation of the company's Health and Safety management system across multiple sites and departments throughout NI, ROI, and GB, including risk assessments, Safe Working Procedures, and policies. Development of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs) for non-routine activities and overseeing the works taking place. Regular review and timely update of Health and Safety documentation as required. Conducting Health and Safety inductions for new employees and ensuring on-the-job training is completed within their probation period. Investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses, liaising with relevant third parties (HSE/Insurers), and implementing remedial actions. Managing Health and Safety on company construction projects, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations for client and principal contractor responsibilities. Vetting subcontractors using Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and reviewing their returned documentation. Ensuring all legislative Health and Safety requirements are up to date (e.g., fixed wiring certificates, PAT testing, Fire Risk Assessments). Conducting Health, Safety, and Environmental internal visits/inspections and reporting major findings to company directors. Delegating work to other employees to ensure safe working environments. Staying updated on equipment, machinery, and plant maintenance requirements. Developing and implementing Health and Well-being initiatives companywide. Criteria: Essential: Proven experience in Health and Safety NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills Diligence and attention to detail Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others Full Driving Licence Desirable: Health and Safety experience in sectors such as: Agriculture Transport Construction Milling Fabrication AD Plants
