We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to lead the education and training for our growing pre-registration pharmacy technical team and support staff.
Your core role will be working with the Chief Pharmacy Technician and the Clinical Pharmacist Team Leader for Education & Training to develop and manage education and training for our team. As a keen team player with excellent communication and leadership skills, you should be able to inspire people to achieve their potential and shape the future of our pharmacy workforce.
This role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Relevant experience and good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
* Leading on the delivery and training for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff
* Overseeing, developing and delivering structured training programmes and schedules for apprentices of all levels, and sourcing suitable training providers to deliver courses
* Planning and prioritising your own workload and organising staff training in liaison with other service managers
* Be a direct line manager for the pre-registration pharmacy technicians
* Participate in the delivery of Medicines Optimisation including supporting dispensary and ward based services
* Finally accuracy checking in the dispensary as rostered.

Person specification
Experience
* Extensive experience of technical pharmacy service delivery with at least two years post qualification
* Experience in supervising and mentoring staff
* Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK
Skills
* Able to analyse and interpret a wide range of technical information
* Accurate and concise written and oral communication skills
* Ability to work effectively under pressure
* Excellent team working skills
* Demonstrable attention to detail
* Able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills
* Able to assess staff performance against agreed standards and criteria, and to provide feedback and development
* Able to work independently and under guidance, within departmental, Trust and statutory and professional codes of practice / ethics
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
* Evidence of continued professional development or equivalent knowledge through extensive experience
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Pharmaceutical technical procedures specific to the area of work
Qualifications
* BTEC National Certificate in Science (Pharmaceutical) or equivalent qualification
* Undertaken Educational Supervisor Training with accredited provider (e.g. HEE)
* A1 Assessor or D32/33 Assessor award
* V1 Internal Verifier award (or working toward)

* Flexibility in working hours to suit the needs of the department
* Current driving licence/ able to travel between sites (reasonable adjustments will be considered)
