Role Summary

Please note that the job descriptions attached are what the post holder will be working towards being able to fulfil by the end of the four year programme.

This role is to train as an Occupational Therapist whilst in paid employment.

An Occupational Therapist helps people of all ages overcome challenges completing everyday tasks or activities. Everyday activities give meaning, purpose, and structure. Through occupational we enhance our health and quality of life.

Occupational Therapists work in a number of settings across Acute, Community, Mental Health, Learning disabilities, Paediatrics, and Outpatients services.

Do you:

1. Have experience working as a Therapy Clinical Support Worker or Therapy Assistant Practitioner.
2. Have the passion to become an Occupational Therapist.
3. Have an enthusiasm to learn about occupational, health and wellbeing, as well as fundamentals of psychology, sociology, anatomy and physiology.
4. Have enthusiasm to learn about evidence-based practice and research.
5. Have the appropriate entry requirements for the University at UWE or Plymouth.

The post holder will complete work-based learning, attend university with scheduled learning delivered through online or face to face teaching, complete clinical placements in a setting outside of the workplace. You will study a range of subject areas from occupational science and therapeutic practice to promoting healthy living. Assessment takes the form of a mix of module assessments including a written exam, essays, presentations and oral examinations.

In order to apply for this role the entry requirements are:

6. GCSE grade C / 4 in Maths and English or Level 2 Functional skills.
7. Tariff points for UWE Bristol

Pay information: Year 1 and Year 2: Band 3 or 4 reflective of current pay point.

Year 3: Band 4 reflective of current pay point.

Year 4: Band 4 if at top of pay scale or annex Band 5 if at bottom of Band 4 pay scale.

Working Pattern:

8/8: ->Work based Apprenticeship, % off the job hours. Some teams have a requirement for weekend working.
