Overview
: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Engineering Team Leader on behalf of one of our clients.
Hours: 42 hours – 4 on 4 off days and nights 05:30 – 17:30 / 17:30 – 05:30.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision to a team of mechanical, electrical, multi-skilled and semi-skilled engineers.
2. Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH regulations, and ensure all staff understand and adhere to their Health & Safety responsibilities when operating machinery.
3. Support the training, development and assessment of staff in safe and effective machine operation.
4. Work closely with visiting engineers and contractors to ensure agreed improvements and modifications are implemented effectively and deliver the intended business benefits.
5. Ensure all equipment documentation is completed accurately and in full, and filed correctly or forwarded to the appropriate department.
6. Prioritise and allocate work activities in the absence of the Shift Engineering Manager or Maintenance Manager.
7. Identify, report and escalate any faults or issues that may impact factory efficiency to the Shift Manager or Maintenance Manager.
8. Ensure all work is carried out safely, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is used, and work permits are issued and signed off where required.
9. Promote positive working behaviours and a professional team culture.
10. Ensure engineering stores are appropriately stocked and controlled.
11. Carry out required checks of the temperature monitoring system.
12. Ensure utilities are used efficiently, minimising waste wherever possible.
13. Ensure compliance with all environmental permit conditions, preventing any breaches.
14. Undertake any other duties appropriate to their training and experience, as requested by the Shift Manager or Maintenance Manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
15. Must be a Time/Skill-Served Fitter with 4 years Industrial Experience.
16. Must have a mechanical/electrical aptitude.
17. Must be able to diagnose and solve problems.
18. IT Literate.
19. The ability to make decisions is essential.
20. The ability to organise time is essential.
21. Showing initiative is essential.
22. Good reasoning ability desirable.
23. Previous supervisory experience.
24. Good communication skills are desirable.
25. Good interpersonal skills are desirable.
26. Experience of poultry processing machinery is desirable.
27. Experience within a Food Processing Industry is desirable.
