Job Title: Animal Care Tutor
Salary Range: £ / hour depending on experience and skills.

We are delighted to offer a vacancy for the role of Animal Care Tutor. This is an exciting opportunity to join our small, friendly and growing team to work with a range of large and small animals and a small cohort of young people and adults in a multisensory, therapeutic setting.
The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of Entry level - Level 2 qualifications in land-based subjects to young people aged between 14– 25 with an education, health and care plan.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to deliver qualifications in a vocational way, having access to a variety of animals in a relaxed, but professional setting.

We would like to welcome someone who is passionate about educating young people in a nurturing environment and has experience working with animals. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, engaging and eager to share their knowledge in an inspiring way. The post holder must be creative in the way that they deliver qualifications, ensuring that an array of learning styles are catered for. Being a good communicator, compassionate and driven to help people to meet their individual targets is imperative and having a good sense of humour is essential
The role will require somebody to be motivated, physically active and demonstrate practical land-based activities in a professional manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To plan, teach and assess as directed within animal care and functional skills subject areas.
2. Plan and deliver teaching, learning and assessment, which meet quality targets set internally and externally.
3. Assess portfolios and provide constructive feedback.
4. Design learning materials and assessments to defined quality standards for practical and classroom learning environments.
5. Teach in an age appropriate and nurturing manner.
6. Be considerate of each and every learners needs.
7. Be driven and motivated to teach and inspire.
8. To maintain resources and prepare and set up physical materials and equipment for land based related activities.
9. To develop schemes of work and lesson plans in accordance with the qualification delivery and enrichment programmes.
10. To design and deliver engaging practical animal care activities that encompass functional skills.
11. Keep accurate, up to date records on student/trainee progress.
12. Inform the directors on student progress.
13. Take part in programme team meetings and other meetings as required.
14. To provide pastoral support.
15. To attend team meetings, events and outside events as required.
16. To ensure all students are aware and adhere to of the health and safety guidelines.
17. To carry out animal husbandry tasks as required.
18. Contribute to procedures and quality assurance measures.
19. Supervise and engage with students during unstructured break times.
20. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people they are responsible for, or come into contact with.
21. Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the directors.

Teaching/mentoring experience
A Teaching Qualification
GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in Maths and English
Experience of providing pastoral support to students
Knowledge and practical experience in the land-based and animal sector
Experience of delivering and assessing functional skills Entry level – Level 2
Experience/Knowledge of specialist education/ learning environments
A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
Experience of delivering to groups of vulnerable students, including those who are neurodiverse, have an EHCP, mental health conditions.
Vast experience working with small and large animals with animal welfare as a priority.
Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of young people and vulnerable adults
A1 Assessors Award or equivalent V1 Internal Verifiers Award or equivalent
Flexible, able to adapt to changing situations
Be able to plan, teach and deliver functional skills in an engaging, vocational and timely manner
Excellent interpersonal skills to work as a team member and to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
Self motivated and the ability to motivate others.
Ability to use initiative
A friendly personality with the ability to create a rapport with learners.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Equality & Diversity.
Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults
Experience working with small and large animals with animal welfare as a priority.
