Business Manager – Director’s Office (DV Cleared)
Location: Hybrid – initially 3 days per week in either London or Manchester, with flexibility to work across both locations and from home

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Manager to join a high-profile, fast-paced government programme, supporting a Director at the centre of a complex and evolving environment.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a Private Office setting and enjoys operating at pace, managing competing priorities, and working closely with senior stakeholders. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the Director’s Office and enabling effective decision-making across a major programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the flow of work through the Director’s Office, ensuring priorities are clear and actions are delivered across senior leadership and wider teams
* Oversee inbox and diary management, responding to and escalating issues as appropriate
* Coordinate programme-wide inputs into key returns, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions
* Maintain oversight of risks, opportunities, and performance across the directorate
* Lead the planning and coordination of meetings and engagements, including logistics, briefing materials, and action tracking (including secure meetings)
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and senior stakeholders across multiple organisations
* Enable effective communication and collaboration across business units using available tools and systems
* Manage administrative processes including expenses, purchase orders, and record keeping
* Ensure compliance with governance processes such as gifts and hospitality registers
* Provide line management support where required
Essential Skills & Experience
* Demonstrable experience working in a Private Office or supporting senior leaders (Director level or equivalent)
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence
* Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced environment
* Experience coordinating work across multiple teams or programmes
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
* Active DV clearance
Desirable
* Understanding of programme management principles
* Experience within a government or similarly complex environment
