About the role
Candlelight Care is looking for enthusiastic, caring, and reliable individuals to support vulnerable adults in the comfort of their own homes across Ferndown, Dorset and the surrounding areas. This role involves learning your clients and their individual needs, providing emotional and practical support, assisting with personal care (washing, toileting, dressing), domestic household tasks, meal preparation, and supporting clients with medication, mobility aids and personal equipment. The caregiver monitors overall wellbeing and reports significant changes in client health or circumstances to the Registered Manager. Clients are encouraged to remain as independent as possible while ensuring their wellbeing is supported and safeguarded.
Key responsibilities
* Support clients with personal care, domestic tasks and meal preparation.
* Assist with medication, mobility aids and personal equipment.
* Monitor client wellbeing and report any significant changes to the Registered Manager.
* Maintain client independence and safety.
* Work both independently and as part of a team.
* Handle challenging situations calmly and patiently.
* Expected to work alternate weekends and typical shifts of 7am‑2pm or 4pm‑10pm, with both full‑time and part‑time options.
Requirements and qualifications
* Kind, empathetic and genuinely motivated to help others.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (walking or cycling routes may be available).
* Calm, patient and able to handle challenging situations.
* Good communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
