Our client, who operates within the Civil and Structural Engineering sector, are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer in their office in Leeds. The Senior Structural Engineer will be working on projects large and small across most sectors including commercial, R&D, energy and residential new build and refurbishment projects. The ideal candidate will be progressing towards Chartered Status of the IStructE. The Structural engineer will have extensive construction industry experience as well as knowledge of large-framed structures within the residential, commercial and education sectors. It is essential that the Structural Engineer has an in-depth understanding of superstructure, foundation and geotechnical design, using Tekla and an understanding of BIM.
Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview:
1. Lead and manage structural engineering projects across a wide range of interesting projects
2. Support business growth by contributing to proposals and bids.
3. Mentor and help junior engineers and technicians
4. Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry
5. See project through from inception to completion
6. Client and Stakeholder Management:
7. Prepare technical details for Architectural design and prepare technical specifications
8. Liaise and attend meetings with Architects, clients, subcontractors and other professionals
9. Represent the business, in a professional and courteous way
10. Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
11. Provide expert technical input on structural design principles and best practices.
12. Complying to Health and Safety and CDM regs
Senior Structural Engineer Job Requirements:
13. Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
14. Chartered status or working towards Chartered status
15. Minimum of 5 years'+ post-qualification experience in structural design
16. Capability to prepare structural designs in all conventional materials
17. Proven experience delivering structural designs for building and infrastructure projects.
18. Have a global view of structural design on a project, identifying potential problems and solutions and providing advice to clients on design options
19. Talent to prepare schematic structural designs based on basic architectural layout
20. Experience with BIM methodologies
21. An ability to write clear and concise e-mails, letters and reports
