About the Business Unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable, and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle, from concept to decommissioning, supporting the energy transition worldwide.
Job Overview
The Transmission & Distribution division of the Energy Unit is recruiting a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join a team delivering large projects globally. We offer opportunities to work on exciting projects, supported by training and mentoring from experts in our UK and global offices.
The role involves:
* Power System Analysis: load flow, short circuit, dynamic & transient stability, harmonic analysis, protection, arc flash evaluation, electromagnetic transient analysis
* Power System Modelling: familiar with IPSA, ETAP, DigSilent, PTW, PSS/E v3x & higher, PSCAD
* Site visits to collect data, sometimes via measurements
* Analyzing and interpreting simulation and test data using industry-standard tools
* Preparing reports and presenting to clients
* Collaborating with other professionals and coordinating with project teams
* Interfacing with clients, suppliers, and contractors
* Maintaining knowledge of technical codes and practices, actively participating in technical matters at project level
Candidate Specification
* Electrical engineering degree (minimum BSc/BEng; MSc/MEng or PhD in power systems preferred)
* Proficiency in PSCAD, ETAP, DigSilent, PTW, and other power simulation software
* Team player, willing to follow instructions
* Commercial awareness and ability to develop business
* High IT literacy and numeracy skills
* Adaptable, able to work independently and in teams
* Experience managing small project teams within time and budget constraints
* Clear and logical written communication skills
* Systematic approach to problem solving
