The Principal / Lead Systems Engineer will work within the Project/Systems Engineering function, providing expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Main responsibilities:
* Represent the Systems discipline for assigned work packages, ensuring obligations are met on time and within budget.
* Support the Engineering Project Lead in delivering project obligations, accepting delegated responsibilities.
* Develop technical solutions for complex engineering problems, following Systems Engineering processes to meet customer requirements.
* Create Systems Engineering artefacts across the product lifecycle to ensure successful project outcomes.
* Provide technical direction and influence project work packages for optimal solutions.
* Collaborate with system, hardware, firmware, and software architects to ensure design consistency and reusability.
* Lead and coordinate design reviews with management and customers.
* Manage project aspects to balance requirements, schedule, and costs.
* Coordinate with customers and suppliers to ensure compliance and project success.
* Assist in creating bids and proposals leading to contract awards.
* Estimate effort for systems activities and ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
* Review and approve technical documents.
* Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical parties.
* Manage information security as per regulations.
* Become a recognized subject matter expert within the company.
* Lead and coach team members, support recruitment, and promote STEM engagement.
Experience needed:
* Degree or equivalent experience in Physics, Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software, or Systems Engineering.
* Experience with Systems Engineering, the V-Model, and lifecycle processes.
* Proven ability in requirements development and systems design.
* Technical and Line management experience.
* Experience in technical documentation and reviews.
* Knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, methodologies, and trends.
* Experience with DOORS, UML, SEBoK, Enterprise Architect, and SysML.
* Hands-on experience in hardware, software, or firmware development, especially in embedded environments.
* Experience in Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments is advantageous.
* Recognitions such as INCOSE ASEP or CSEP are preferred.
* Experience as a Subject Matter Expert and in developing new expertise areas.
