This long-established manufacturer designs, engineers, and produces large composite structures and GRP mouldings in-house, from concept through to final assembly. With continued growth and a strong order book, they are now looking to strengthen their engineering team with an experienced Manufacturing Engineer based at their Winfrith site.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will report into the Engineering Manager and play a critical role in bridging design and production. You’ll be hands-on, methodical, and confident working at shop-floor level to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The Manufacturing Engineer role will involve:
Creating and implementing detailed manufacturing work instructions and visual aids, including lay-up and assembly manuals
Translating customer drawings and CAD data into practical manufacturing solutions
Designing mould tools, assembly fixtures, templates, foam kits, and manufacturing aids
Setting up and managing part numbers, BOMs, and routings within the MRP system
Driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, quality, and efficiency
Providing cost input and manufacturing insight during quotation and project planning stages
Liaising with customers and suppliers to support successful project delivery
Supporting and mentoring shop floor operatives, helping build capability and consistency
Ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality, and environmental requirements
Working closely with design teams to ensure products are fully manufacturableWhat we’re looking for in a Manufacturing Engineer:
Essential
Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar engineering role, ideally within composites
Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software
A structured, methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
Confidence working between engineering, production, and project teamsDesirable
Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement tools
Experience working within ISO accredited environmentsDue to the nature of the work, this Manufacturing Engineer role requires candidates to pass DBS checks and National Security Vetting where applicable. Full support will be provided throughout the clearance process. Hybrid working is not available for this position.
