THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group are seeking a Manual Turner to join our client based in Cramlington. The right candidate will be joining a global company with a proud history. They have a well established reputation and experts in their industry. An opportunity has arisen for a Manual Turner to join their team.
THE ROLE
12. Operating a conventional turning machine (lathe) and conventional borer (webster and bennet) to produce high precision parts to customer specifications
13. Assisting with final fitting of the components
14. Correctly positioning the component into the machine, with the assistance of lifting equipment if necessary
15. Identifying the operations which will machine (cut) the component to the required size
16. Carrying out the machining in accordance to the components route card and technical drawing
17. To check your own quality as you work, measuring first-offs before proceeding with any additional machining with hand measuring equipment such as venires and micrometers
18. Responsible for the housekeeping within your own work area
19. To follow instructions as per company procedure, practises and policies
20. To ensure all work/tasks/procedures/documentation meet the requirements of the company’s Quality Systems & procedures
21. To ensure all work meets the requirements of Health & Safety systems & procedures
THE PERSON
22. Educated to Engineering Apprentice level or equivalent
23. Ideally with a minimum of 3 years post experience working in the same/similar environment
24. An ability to read, interpret and communicate technical drawings
25. Manual Handling Training and overhead crane experience
26. Good written and oral skills
27. Experienced within the metal cutting or manufacturing industry
28. Must have proven team-working skills
29. Planning and organisational skills are also required to ensure departmental and business objectives and deadlines are met whilst ensuring the integrity of the Company
30. Excellent written and verbal skills are required to convey issues to your management and employees alike
31. PC literate: Expert knowledge of spreadsheets and reporting computer systems is essential. All round appreciation and understanding of Information Technology including hardware, software and networking arrangements
