The Business Finance Team is a team of roughly thirty finance professionals who partner with the functions across Dunelm to provide timely and accurate reporting, forecasting, decision support and insight to inform trading, planning and operational control. The team sets targets with the business, challenges performance, supports strategic and tactical decision making, and works to optimise profitability and resource use. The team collaborates to join up opportunities and address issues across the end-to-end operation.
There are opportunities for development within the team, including progression through roles such as Analyst, Business Partner, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager and Head of; and partnership with Stores, Supply Chain, Digital, Marketing, Tech, Commercial and other areas of Dunelm.
What you\'ll be doing
As Finance Manager for the business functions you partner, you will provide support and challenge to your business partners in line with the Business Finance purpose, ensuring all Finance function requirements are delivered. You will directly partner with business stakeholders on specific projects and initiatives, working as a key member of leadership and project teams. You will work with colleagues across the business to support cross-functional opportunities and issue resolution.
* Line management, coaching and development of Finance Business Partners and Analysts (including those not directly reporting to you).
* Primary outcomes include:
* Production of weekly and monthly reporting
* Forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning
* Decision support from tactical decisions to large strategic projects, including financial appraisal
* Insight and analysis to inform decision making
* Challenge and support to business functions and, where relevant, to third party suppliers
* Ensure month-end closes accurately, timely and in accordance with Financial Reporting policies (P&L and balance sheet)
* Partner Leadership teams in the functions you support as a \'critical friend\'
* Direct ownership and presentation of regular or ad hoc outputs and meetings (e.g. Weekly Trade, Steering Groups, Finance Lead)
* Identify opportunities or risks and influence stakeholders to take action; question the status quo and propose improvements

* Line management or indirect coaching and mentoring experience
* Commercially minded with a drive to contribute to growth and profitability
* Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to condense complex information into clear messages
* Strong relationship builder with stakeholders
* Finance qualified
* Comfortable with both high-level overview and detailed analysis; able to adapt approach as needed
* Strong Excel skills and ability to draw trends and highlight risks or focus areas
* Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities
