Job Overview

Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is a Top Employer Award Winner that provides primary care, mental health, intellectual disability and substance misuse services to diverse communities. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Mental Health Nursing Associate to join our Health & Justice team at HMP Downview. The role delivers patient‑focused quality care in a 7‑day‑week working model, supporting healthcare needs in secure environments and promoting health and well‑being.


Key Responsibilities

* Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and be accountable to registered nurses.
* Provide and monitor care in accordance with the NMC Code for Nurses, Midwives and Nursing Associates.
* Promote health and prevent ill‑health through partnership with patients, carers and other staff.
* Supervise, help train and delegate to other team members such as Health Care Assistants.
* Participate in team meetings, reflect on practice and contribute to service improvement.
* Maintain accurate, legible and comprehensive records.
* Identify and report safeguarding concerns and potential risks.


Person Specification


Education & Qualifications

* GCSEs A–C in Maths and English (or key skills level 2) – Essential.
* Demonstrable ability to study at Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education – Essential.
* Qualified Nursing Associate with UK NMC – Essential.
* Care certificate or equivalent – Desirable.


Previous Experience

* Experience of working in a health or caring setting – Essential.
* Experience of working within a secure environment – Desirable.


Skills & Knowledge

* Effective team player under supervision.
* Insight into own strengths and development needs.
* Understanding of the role of the Nursing Associate.
* Time‑management and prioritisation skills.
* Intermediate IT skills.
* Excellent communication with public, patients and colleagues.
* Ability to handle unpredictable workloads and patient contact.
* Promotion of health and well‑being (Making Every Contact Count).


Attitudes & Characteristics

* Willingness to learn and develop; recognises the need for flexibility.
* Works well within a multi‑disciplinary team.


Other
