Overview
The project investigates how the C9orf72 hexanucleotide repeat expansion affects pyruvate metabolism under normoxia and hypoxia using C9orf72 patient-derived iNPC models and Drosophila models. Mechanistic understanding will drive interventions to correct alterations and assess downstream effects on ALS pathogenic pathways in vitro and in vivo. The project is based in the labs of Dr Scott Allen and Dr Ryan West at SITraN, University of Sheffield.
Candidates are encouraged to contact the investigators prior to application.
